Getting married at San Canzian

From the first moment the designers of the shoot set foot on San Canzian which is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Istria, they had a moment of certainty. A clear vision of a wedding scene in the Istrian countryside appeared in their minds and the styled shoot design was born. The scene was to be of a luxury backyard wedding.

The region of Istria has 4 types of soil (red, black, white and grey), so to represent this diversity an earthy colour palette was chosen for the decoration of the location.

The segments that made up the design were carefully selected, making sure that they match the architecture and the feel of the location itself. Pure magic was made with just a touch of string lights, creating a warm but simple ambiance.

Special attention was made to include authentic elements that represent this region. A traditional wooden board used in the past to make the traditional Istrian pasta (fuži and pljukanci) was repurposed as a welcome sign while the seating plan was made from wooden boards usually used to serve Istrian cheese and prosciutto.

Istrian tradition of family gatherings around a dinner table was represented by a long wooden table setup in the courtyard. Local wildlife flowers in terracotta vases were chosen for a natural and warm decoration of the table as well as the sweet corner.

Well-known for its hospitality and warm & welcoming people, Istrian region also does not lack in culinary delights, some of which were represented on the sweet and wine corners. Traditional Istrian pastries such as kroštule, cukerančići and breskvice were the stars of the sweet corner, while the wine corner was adorned with specialities such as prosciutto, cheese, grapes, olive oil and, of course, Istrian wine.
